Simple geometric SVGs work best. SVG files only.

What is DST format?

DST (Tajima) is the most widely supported binary format for embroidery machines. It encodes every stitch as a relative X/Y movement in 0.1mm units, along with stitch type flags (stitch, jump, color change, end). Most home and commercial embroidery machines can read DST files directly or via embroidery software.

This converter traces the outline paths in your SVG and converts them to running stitches at your chosen stitch length. The result is a DST file you can open in Wilcom, PE-Design, Hatch, Embird or any compatible software for final editing before sending to the machine.

Which SVGs work best?

Works well

  • Simple icons and logos with clean outlines
  • Monogram letters and text converted to paths
  • Geometric shapes and patterns
  • Single-color silhouettes

Works less well

  • Complex fills and gradients
  • Photographic or highly detailed SVGs
  • SVGs with embedded raster images
  • Very small designs (under 20mm)

Frequently asked questions

What machines can read DST files?

DST (Tajima) is compatible with most home and commercial embroidery machines including Brother, Janome, Bernina, Singer and Husqvarna. It can also be opened in Wilcom, PE-Design, Hatch and Embird.

Can I use any SVG for embroidery conversion?

The converter works best with SVGs that have simple, clean outline paths: logos, icons, monograms and geometric shapes. SVGs with complex fills, gradients or embedded raster images will not convert well, since only path outlines are stitched.

What stitch length should I choose?

2mm is the standard stitch length and a safe default for most designs. Use 1.5mm for fine details and small text. Use 3mm or 4mm for bold outlines and large decorative designs.

Is my SVG file uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your SVG file is never sent to a server, no account is required, and no data is stored after you close the tab.
