Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about SVGcreator.

01
What file formats can I convert to SVG?
SVGcreator supports 7 input formats: PNG, JPG (JPEG), WEBP, GIF, AVIF, TIFF and BMP. The maximum file size is 10 MB. For GIF files, only the first frame is converted.
02
What conversion modes are available?
There are three modes: B&W traces the image in black and white, Grayscale does the same but preserves grey tones, and Colors produces a full-color vector with multiple layers. You can fine-tune each mode with sliders for threshold, noise suppression, curve smoothness, color precision and more.
03
How does the conversion work?
Your image is analyzed on our server, which traces shapes, edges and color regions into clean SVG paths. The result is returned to you instantly. No third-party service involved.
04
Do you have an AI SVG converter?
Yes. The AI SVG Converter (svgcreator.com/ai-svg-converter/) redraws your image with AI instead of tracing pixels, which gives smoother curves and works on blurry or low-resolution logos and icons. It offers a Cutting machine style with non-overlapping shapes for Cricut, vinyl and laser. It is free: 100 AI conversions per day are shared by all visitors, first come, first served, with a maximum of 3 per person. When they are used up, the regular converter has no limit.
05
Is SVGcreator free to use?
Yes. SVGcreator is completely free with no account required, no daily limit and no watermark on the output.
06
Are my uploaded images stored?
No. Your images are processed in memory and the result is cached for up to 15 minutes so you can download it. After that the file is permanently deleted. We do not store your images in any database.
07
What is an SVG file?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an XML-based vector image format. Unlike raster images (PNG, JPG), SVGs scale to any size without losing quality, making them ideal for logos, icons and illustrations.
08
Will the SVG look exactly like my original image?
Vectorization is an approximation process. Simple images with clear edges and flat colors convert very well. Complex photographs may result in a stylized or simplified output. Using the Colors mode produces the closest result for multi-color artwork.
09
What is the fullscreen mode?
The fullscreen workspace gives you a larger preview area, a side panel for conversion settings, and direct access to the SVG source code, all in one view. It is the easiest way to fine-tune your conversion.
10
What other tools does SVGcreator offer?
In addition to image-to-SVG conversion, SVGcreator includes an SVG Optimizer (reduces file size without changing visuals), an SVG Color Editor (swap colors in any SVG), an SVG Palette Swapper (apply a new color palette to your SVG), and an SVG to PNG converter.
11
What does the SVG Optimizer do?
The SVG Optimizer removes unnecessary metadata, comments, empty groups, redundant attributes and excessive decimal precision from your SVG code. It reduces file size while keeping all shapes, colors, transforms and gradients intact.
12
Can I use the SVG commercially?
Yes. Once converted, the SVG output belongs to you. Make sure you own the rights to the original image before converting it.
13
What browsers are supported?
SVGcreator works on all modern browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
