How to convert an image to SVG with AI
Four steps, no account, no software to install.
Upload your image
PNG, JPG, WEBP and more, up to 10 MB. Logos, icons and illustrations work best.
Pick an output style
Standard for web, print and editing, or Cutting machine for Cricut, vinyl and laser.
AI redraws it
The AI rebuilds your image as clean vector shapes, usually in 5 to 20 seconds.
Compare and download
Drag the slider to compare with the original, then download your optimized SVG.
AI vectorization vs classic tracing
Classic tracing follows the edges of the pixels. AI vectorization recognizes the shapes and redraws them, which gives smoother curves and handles images that tracing struggles with.

Standard or Cutting machine: which style?
Both look the same on screen. The difference is how the shapes are built inside the SVG.
Standard: layered shapes
Shapes are stacked on top of each other, like layers in a design tool. A red circle with a white star stays one full circle with the star placed above it. The file is lighter and easier to recolor and edit in Illustrator, Figma, Canva or with our SVG color editor.
Best for: websites, print, logos, editing.
Cutting machine: no overlap
Every visible area is its own piece and nothing overlaps. The red circle gets a star-shaped hole, and the white star fills it exactly. Cutting machines cut each piece once, so you do not waste vinyl or cut hidden layers. Read our guide to SVG for Cricut.
Best for: Cricut, Silhouette, vinyl, laser cutting.
Frequently asked questions
View all FAQs →- What is an AI SVG converter?
- An AI SVG converter uses a machine learning model to redraw a raster image (PNG, JPG, WEBP) as vector shapes. Instead of following pixel edges like classic tracing, the AI recognizes shapes and colors, so the SVG has smoother curves and fewer stray points.
- Is the AI SVG converter free?
- Yes. SVGcreator offers 100 free AI conversions per day, shared by all visitors on a first come, first served basis, with a maximum of 3 per person. The counters reset every day at midnight (Montreal time). No account is required.
- What happens when the daily AI conversions are used up?
- You can come back after the daily reset, or use the free SVGcreator converter, which has no limit. It uses classic tracing with adjustable settings and works well on clean logos and flat graphics.
- Which image formats can I convert to SVG with AI?
- PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF (first frame), BMP, AVIF and TIFF, up to 10 MB. Very large or very small images are resized automatically for the AI, so any common image size works.
- What is the difference between Standard and Cutting machine?
- Standard stacks shapes in layers, which keeps the file light and easy to edit in Illustrator, Figma or Canva. Cutting machine produces shapes that never overlap, so each visible area is a single piece. Use it for Cricut, Silhouette, vinyl and laser cutting.
- Can AI convert a blurry or low-resolution image to SVG?
- Yes, this is where AI vectorization shines. Because it rebuilds shapes instead of tracing pixels, a small or slightly blurry logo usually comes out with clean edges. Photos become a stylized illustration rather than an exact copy.
- Is the SVG file editable?
- Yes. The result is a standard SVG made of paths with flat colors, optimized to remove unnecessary code. You can open it in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma, Canva, Cricut Design Space or any code editor, and change colors with the SVGcreator color editor.
- What happens to my image?
- Your image is sent to our AI vectorization partner only to create the SVG. SVGcreator does not keep your image: the result is returned to your browser and stays there.
